Sarnia, ON - Talking with teens can be difficult. Talking with them about drugs can be even harder.
Get the facts, know the risks and start the conversation as Lambton Public Health and its community partners present "Talking Pot with Youth" on Tuesday, November 20 at the Lambton College Event Centre. Two free sessions will be held at 1:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. To register, visit https://cannabisevent.eventbrite.ca.
Lisa Clark, Health Promoter with Lambton Public Health, says "Having a meaningful conversation with teens about drugs can be difficult because many adults are unclear about the risks, and don't know how to share the correct information."
"Parents and trusted adults such as teachers, coaches and youth workers play an important role in managing the influences of alcohol and cannabis use by teens. It is vital they have the facts and support teens in making informed decisions about substances."
During adolescence, teens are more likely to engage in risky behaviour than any other age group putting them at greater harm from drug use, including cannabis. A lack of knowledge about cannabis use can put youth at an increased risk of short and long-term health and social problems.
