Wyoming, ON— The Teen Photo Contest, organized by Lambton County Library, Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery (JNAAG), and Lambton College, is now open for submissions. This year’s theme, Stories in Focus, invites teens to tell compelling stories with their photos.
“Previous participants of the Teen Photo Contest have pursued post-secondary studies in photography and film studies, and some have even served as jurors for the contest,” said Vanitia Campbell, Public Services Coordinator - Youth Programs & Outreach, with Lambton County Library. “We look forward to celebrating this year’s exceptional submissions from young artists across Lambton County.”
The Teen Photo Contest is open to Lambton County residents ages 13 to 18. From April 2 to July 6, 2025, participants can submit up to five photos at lclibrary.ca/teenphotocontest. The three category winners and one grand prize winner will be announced on July 19, 2025.
Submission Categories:
- Comedy: Capture a lighthearted, humorous moment.
- Drama: Explore tension, emotion, and human experience.
- Fantasy: Look for the fantastic in everyday settings or create something fantastic to photograph.
Category winners will receive their winning photograph professionally printed and framed.
The grand prize winner will receive their winning photography professionally printed and framed, plus a prize of their choice valued at $100. Stories in Focus Exhibition and Awards Ceremony
Twenty-five photos will be chosen by a jury of industry professionals and displayed at the Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery from August 1 to October 4, 2025. The teens’ artwork will be showcased alongside photography by Vancouver-based artist Adad Hannah from JNAAG’s permanent collection. Featured will be “Blackwater Ophelia” (2013) created by Hannah in Lambton County with the support of local artists.
The opening reception for Stories in Focus will occur on Friday, August 1, and will feature an awards ceremony for teens.
"The Teen Photo Contest is an wonderful opportunity to celebrate young artists and support their creativity," said Rose Canino, Exhibition Support and Education Coordinator at the Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery. “For teens, having artwork featured in a professional art gallery is an asset for scholarship applications or future exhibitions.”
