Wyoming, ON - The County of Lambton's Cultural Services Division is hosting an Open House on October 22 to kick-off Ontario Public Library Week at Lambton County Library Headquarters and Lambton County Archives, located at 787 Broadway Street, Wyoming.
The event, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., will provide members of the public with a chance to see the behind the scenes work taking place to serve the 25 libraries located throughout Lambton County, and an opportunity to learn about local historical resources housed at the Archives.
The 27 year old building was renovated over four months earlier this year in an effort to enhance the facility's accessibility, upgrade outdated infrastructure and renew and modernize the space to match current workflow processes.
The approximately $350,000 project included repairs to the HVAC system, a collapsed drainage system, updated spaces for improved workplace ergonomics, a new accessible ramp and washroom, new storage, a new meeting room, new lighting, new flooring, improved building security features, and fresh paint throughout the space.
"The renovation to the Lambton County Library Headquarters and Lambton County Archives is not only a step to renewing aging cultural assets, but the new design aligns work flow practices and allows for better efficiencies for the staff to serve Lambton County residents more effectively," says Andrew Meyer, General Manager of the County of Lambton Cultural Services Division.
The special event will begin with a re-opening ceremony at 1:00 p.m. with remarks from Warden Bill Weber. Guided tours of the updated facility will follow until 6:00 p.m. Visitors are asked to refrain from wearing scented products to this scent-sensitive facility.
