Return of the Tundra Swans at Lambton Heritage Museum
Lambton Heritage Museum is gearing up once again for the Tundra Swans to make their annual stop in the Thedford Bog behind the Museum.
Each spring the Tundra Swans return to Lambton County as part of a 6,000 kilometer migration loop between Chesapeake Bay and the Canadian Arctic. In a good year, there may be as many as 15,000 individual birds resting on the bog, attracted by the melt-water of spring and the remnants of the prior year’s crop. The number of swans each day can change depending on time, weather, and field conditions.
Before going to Greenway Road to see these beautiful birds in person, stop by Lambton Heritage Museum and explore the Tundra Swan exhibit. Learn about the swans and the history of the Thedford Bog and participate in swan-themed activities. The exhibit will be available from February 15 to April 14 and can be viewed during the Museum’s regular hours: Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
To increase your chance of seeing swans, visit returnoftheswans.com for updates and daily estimates of the current number of swans in the area. You can also call the Museum at 519-243-2600 for migration updates.

211 Ontario
In large scale emergencies that have the potential to create a surge in public inquiries, Lambton County may work with 211 Ontario to field calls from the public.
When activated, calling 2-1-1 or visiting 211Ontario.ca will provide residents with the latest information about the emergency. Details may include information about relief assistance or instructions to help protect public health and safety.
Remember, when a disaster strikes, calling 9-1-1 should only be used to report emergencies or request assistance from police, fire, or emergency medical services (ambulance), not to obtain information.
Day-to-day, 211 Ontario provides public information about community and social services. Service is available 24 hours a day, every day of the year in 175 languages.
