Lambton Fall Colour & Craft Festival returns to Lambton Heritage Museum on October 19 & 20
The annual Lambton Fall Colour & Craft Festival is back! On Saturday, October 19 and Sunday, October 20 between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., browse more than 65 vendors selling a wide range of homemade items, including home décor, bath products and candles, clothing and apparel, food and drink, needlework, jewelry, pottery, woodworking, and more.
Grab your shopping bags and get a jumpstart on your holiday shopping beneath the beautiful fall canopy of Lambton Heritage Museum’s oak savanna forest. There’s something for everyone, and fun for the whole family. This year, children are invited to make an adorable acorn craft in our Rokeby School, and families can watch historical demonstrations including quilting and timber-framing.
Attracting over 3,500 visitors each year, this annual event is one of the largest craft festivals in the Lambton Shores area and serves as the Museum’s biggest fundraiser. Proceeds from the festival are used to support Museum programming, exhibit renewal, and artifact conservation.
Admission is $5 and children 12 and under are free when accompanied by an adult. For more information and a list of participating vendors this year, please visit the Museum’s website.
Household Hazardous Waste Collection Events
Do you know how to dispose of items like nail polish, nail polish remover, household cleaners, or batteries? Although these may not be items we usually consider dangerous, they are considered household hazardous waste items.
You can bring your household derived hazardous waste to one of the upcoming Household Hazardous Waste Day events and it will be disposed of by experts, at no cost to you!
Household Hazardous Waste Day events will be held at Clean Harbours Canada, 4090 Telfer Road, St. Clair Township from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on the following upcoming dates:
- Saturday, September 21
- Saturday, October 26
There will also be a mobile HHW event taking place at the Public Works Forest Depot in Lambton Shores (6958 Townsend Line, Lambton Shores) on Saturday, October 5 from 9:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
Corrosive, toxic, reactive and flammable materials will be collected. These items should never be placed in a regular landfill because they have the potential to injure sanitation workers and damage our environment.
Other accepted items include pharmaceuticals (expired prescription medications), pesticides and herbicides, fertilizers, aerosols, pool chemicals, used oil, oil filters, propane cylinders, fluorescent lights (tubes and compact), fire extinguishers, paint thinner, and oil based and latex paints and stains.
Items not accepted include: PCBs, commercial, industrial, agricultural, or radioactive wastes, electronics, and explosives (flares and ammunition).
The County’s Hazardous Waste Collection Events are for household derived hazardous materials only. Commercially generated hazardous waste, including industrial and agricultural, will not be accepted.

Emergencies Lambton: Shelter-In-Place & Evacuation Advisories
Often in a hazardous materials release, it is safer for individuals to stay inside rather than being potentially exposed to dangerous chemicals in the air while they are trying to leave.
This is called "sheltering-in-place".
If you are instructed by emergency officials to shelter-in-place, stay inside: most buildings will seal well enough to hold enough air supply for several hours while vapours dissipate.
In addition, close and lock all windows and doors and turn off HVAC systems that draw air from outside. Retrieve your emergency supplies kit and watch for updates from your municipality, either through Sarnia-Lambton Alerts, through municipal web and social media channels, and through 1070 AM/103.9 FM CHOK.
If you are advised to evacuate, this likely means it is more dangerous for you to stay in place, than it is to leave. Follow the instructions of local emergency or municipal officials.
Be sure to take your emergencies kit and pets with you, wear durable shoes and long-sleeved clothes, lock your home, and use travel routes identified by authorities.
For more details about what to do and how you can prepare for either of these scenarios, visit EmergenciesLambton.ca.
