Wyoming, ON – The election of the Warden and Deputy Warden for the 2025-2026 term will take place on December 4, 2024.
The Warden serves as the Head of Council for The Corporation of the County of Lambton, while the Deputy Warden serves to assist the Warden when required, both for a two-year term.
At the time of distribution, Enniskillen Mayor Kevin Marriott is the only declared candidate for the position of Warden. St. Clair Township Mayor Jeff Agar and City of Sarnia City/County Councillor Brian White are the declared candidates for the position of Deputy Warden. Other candidates can declare their intention for either position at any time leading up to the Election, including on the floor of the County Council Chambers at the Election on December 4.
To be elected Warden, a candidate needs to secure a majority of votes cast by elected councillors. If a majority is not secured on the first ballot, run-off votes will take place. If a tie persists between two candidates after a second ballot, the successful candidate will be determined by way of a draw.
Candidates for Deputy Warden do not need to secure a majority of votes. The candidate who secures the most votes in the first ballot is elected Deputy Warden. In the event of a tie in the first ballot between two or more candidates, a second ballot will take place. If the tie persists after the second ballot, the successful candidate will be determined by way of a draw.
The election of the Warden and Deputy Warden, along with the rest of the Council meeting, will be livestreamed online. Links to the meeting agenda and livestream will be available online at lambtononline.ca/meetings.
