2025 Household Hazardous Waste collection events
Do you know how to dispose of items like nail polish, nail polish remover, household cleaners, or batteries? Although these may not be items we usually consider dangerous, they are considered household hazardous waste items.
You can bring your household derived hazardous waste to one of the upcoming Household Hazardous Waste collection events and it will be disposed of by experts, at no cost to you!
Household Hazardous Waste collection events will be held at Clean Harbors Canada, 4090 Telfer Road, St. Clair Township from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on the following dates for the 2025 season:
- Saturday, March 29
- Saturday, April 26
- Saturday, May 31
- Saturday, June 21
- Saturday, September 20
- Saturday, October 25
There will also be two mobile collection events held in 2025:
- Saturday, June 7 – Lambton College Parking Lot 11 (1457 London Road, Sarnia)
- Saturday, October 4 – Public Works Forest Depot (6958 Townsend Line, Lambton Shores)
Corrosive, toxic, reactive and flammable materials will be collected at these events. These items should never be placed in a regular landfill because they can injure workers and damage our environment.
Other accepted items include pharmaceuticals (including expired prescription medications), pesticides and herbicides, fertilizers, aerosols, pool chemicals, used oil, oil filters, propane cylinders, fluorescent lights (tubes and compact), fire extinguishers, paint thinner, and oil based and latex paints and stains.
Items not accepted include: PCBs, commercial, industrial, agricultural, or radioactive wastes, electronics, and explosives (flares and ammunition).
The County’s Household Hazardous Waste collection events are for household derived hazardous materials only. Commercially generated hazardous waste, including industrial and agricultural, will not be accepted.

Emergencies Lambton: Tips for during an emergency
Emergencies are stressful and it can be difficult to think clearly about steps you need to take to protect yourself and your loved ones while the incident is occurring. Review the following suggestions for what to do during an emergency, and consider saving them in an accessible place:
- Subscribe to Sarnia-Lambton Alerts to be notified of public safety advisories in your community.
- Tune to a local radio station and listen for information and instructions from emergency officials. Do as emergency officials advise and stay away from the disaster scene. Be prepared to evacuate or shelter-in-place if advised to do so and follow all instructions carefully. The main local radio stations serving Lambton County are: 1070 AM CHOK / 103.9 FM CHOK; 99.9 FOX FM; K106.3 FM.
- Visit a municipal or news media website, or follow their official social media feeds, for information and instructions.
- Do not call 9-1-1 to look for information about an emergency. Only call 9-1-1 to report an emergency or to request police, fire or medical assistance.
- If you are looking for information following or during a major emergency, 211 Ontario will be activated by County or municipal officials to handle information calls from residents. Simply dial 2-1-1 to connect to a call-taker.
- Do not use your phone unless it is absolutely necessary (i.e. you are calling for assistance or checking on the welfare of someone who might be in trouble). Phone usage often soars during disasters, but telephone systems are not designed to allow every customer to use their phones at once. If phone networks are overwhelmed, people in need of assistance might not be able to reach 9-1-1, and emergency responders might not be able to communicate with one another.
- Keep your 72 Hour Emergency Supplies Kit handy for when you have to take shelter (i.e. during a Tornado Warning).

Her work responds to existential threats with creativity, sharp critique, and a complex blend of hope and foreboding.
Curated by McMichael Chief Curator Sarah Milroy, this exhibition includes works from throughout the artist's career, including new pieces created specifically for this showing.
A special Members Reception will take place on Friday, May 2 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. The artist will be in attendance, and the event will include live music, drinks and light refreshments.
