Things to know about non-payment of fines…
After a conviction occurs, a Notice of Fine and Due Date is sent out. At this point, the fine is approximately 45 days old. This notice provides a due date that the fine must be paid by. If you have not paid your fine on time, additional fees and enforcement will occur. Your fine may be placed with a collection agency, applied to your property taxes, enforced civilly, or your driver's licence may be suspended. If your driver's licence is suspended for non-payment of fines, the Ministry of Transportation charges a reinstatement fee of $286.00.
