Approximately 1,500 donors give annually to enhance a wide array of County programs and services, making the County of Lambton a better place for residents and visitors alike. The list below includes some contributions made by donors over the past year.
Ontario Student Nutrition Program Lambton
In the fall of 2022, Bluewater Power donated $15,000 and Noelle’s Gift donated over $22,000 to the Student Nutrition Program.
This donation supports the cost of healthy food for students in Lambton County and helps relieve fundraising pressure on schools providing the program.
In 2023, management of the Student Nutrition Program moved to the Victorian Order of Nurses, which is the lead agency for the Ontario Student Nutrition Program in southwestern Ontario, serving thousands of children across the region. Lambton Public Health continues to work closely with the Ontario Student Nutrition Program - Lambton Committee and collaborate with the VON, as well as implement food literacy and food safety initiatives in schools.
The VON continues the excellent work that has been done in our community supporting the nutritional needs of students that have been achieved with the generous help of donors.
The Lodge Auxiliary
The Lodge Auxiliary is dedicated to supporting the people living at North Lambton Lodge.
In 2023 the Lodge Auxiliary supported several special events, including hosting a Mother’s Day Tea and Father’s Day BBQ, providing tickets for Elders to attend shows at both the Huron Country Playhouse and the Victoria Playhouse Petrolia, and hosting weekly ice-cream days.
In addition, they sponsor the Information Screen that shares announcements and special events happening in the Home and community.
Along with these significant donations, the Auxiliary operates the Tuck Shop in the home and many members volunteer additional time to assist with programs and outings.
The Manor Auxiliary
The Manor Auxiliary is dedicated to supporting the people living at Marshall Gowland Manor.
In 2023 the Auxiliary supported several special events, including hosting a Mother’s Day BBQ and a Father’s Day BBQ.
The Auxiliary always provide a warm welcome to new Elders moving into the Home with a welcome card, along with funding the welcome basket given to each new Elder by a member of the Residents’ Council. They recognize each Elder’s birthday and host a Christmas party with gifts for each Elder, along with a glass of wine with dinner on Sundays. Along with these significant donations, the Auxiliary operates a General Store in the Home and many members volunteer additional time to assist with programs and outings.
The Villa Auxiliary
The Villa Auxiliary is dedicated to supporting the people living at Lambton Meadowview Villa.
In 2023 the Auxiliary supported several special events, along with providing newspaper subscriptions and Ice Cream Days.
The Auxiliary will also be purchasing a sleeper chair than be utilized by family members to stay in the room with an Elder, and have purchased bulbs to be planted in the Therapeutic Gardens in the spring.
Adult Day Program
Don and Anne McGugan donated $5,000 to the Adult Day Program in 2023.
Their gift allowed for an upgrade to the program’s outdoor gardens, including a new pergola, walkways and sitting areas. In addition, a new fence and water structure were installed and provide a lovely new garden area for Day Program participants to enjoy.
Lambton Heritage Museum and Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery
In 2023, Ron Van Horne and Scott Ferguson donated a Brass Naval Telescope, Secretary Desk, and Tall Case Clock to Lambton Heritage Museum, and several paintings to the Judith and Norman Alix Art Gallery.
These included the oil painting Chilcotin Plateau by Alan Caswell Collier, and the watercolours Untitled Landscape by Charles Stuart Millard, Autumn Scene Sarnia by William St. Thomas Smith, Fishing Boat Off Isle of Man by William Armstrong, and Mackinaw Boat off Head Lake Superior, also by William Armstrong.
Lambton Circles
The Famous 5 Sarnia Lambton Speaker Series donated over $5,500 to the Circles Program this year. This donation was used towards post-secondary school supply costs for Circles families.

Ontario Student Nutrition Program LambtonSince 2013 Noelle’s Gift has generously donated over $255,000 to help fund local Student Nutrition Programs that improve the lives of our children and youth by giving them access to nutritious snacks and meals. This year, Noelle’s Gift donated over $60,000 to this initiative. This donation supports the cost of healthy food for students in Lambton County and helps relieve fundraising pressure on schools providing the program. The Lodge AuxiliaryThe Lodge Auxiliary is dedicated to supporting the people living at North Lambton Lodge. In 2022, the Lodge Auxiliary supported several special events and helped commemorate holidays and milestones with everyone living at the Lodge. They supported special events throughout the year, and funded an Information Screen to promote events in the Home and throughout the community, an extra-large Smart TV for programming, and patio furniture for Elders and their guests while visiting in the gardens. Along with these significant donations, the Auxiliary operates the Tuck Shop in the home and many members volunteer additional time to assist with programs and outings. The Manor AuxiliaryThe Manor Auxiliary is dedicated to supporting the people living at Marshall Gowland Manor. In 2022, the Manor Auxiliary helped commemorate the holidays for all people living in the Home, and renovated the fireplace in the great room. Along with these events and projects, the Auxiliary operates the Tuck Shop in the home, and many members volunteer additional time to assist with programs and outings. The Villa AuxiliaryThe Villa Auxiliary is dedicated to supporting the people living at Lambton Meadowview Villa. In 2022, the Villa Auxiliary provided funds to help facilitate several special events and they helped commemorate holidays throughout the year. The Auxiliary also operates the Tuck Shop in the home and many members volunteer additional time to assist with programs and outings. Lambton CirclesThe Seaway Kiwanis Club made a generous donations to Lambton Circles® in 2022, supporting summer activities and grocery purchases for Circles families. The County sincerely appreciates the ongoing generosity from our caring community in support of Lambton Circles®. Judith & Norman Alix Art GalleryFive individuals made generous donations to the Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery collection. The contributions from Andreas Rutkauskas, Ian McLean, Jaime Angelopoulos, John Warrener, and Steve Pustil will help build the Gallery’s permanent collection, offer world-class exhibitions, and develop imaginative educational programs for the community. Lambton Heritage MuseumRon Van Horne donated several pieces of historic furniture to the Museum collection, and Henry Tiedje, Jane Roberts and Thomas Tiedje donated botanical specimens, herbariums and related items, from the collection of their late mother and noted local botanist Dorothy Tiedje. The addition of these artefact donations to the Lambton Heritage Museum collection will help preserve the history of Lambton County for generations to come. Oil Museum of CanadaImperial Sarnia Site made a generous $5,000 donation supporting The International Committee for the Conservation of the Industrial Heritage conference, held this year in the County of Lambton. This international conference on oil heritage highlighted the uniqueness and authenticity of the Oil Springs industrial landscape, and the international reach and influence of Lambton’s oil industry. |

Canatara Cabin Restoration ProjectRoger Hay and an anonymous donor each made a generous donation of $5,000 towards the Canatara Cabin Restoration Project at Lambton Heritage Museum. Once restored, the Canatara Cabin will be the oldest building at the Lambton Heritage Museum. This is the first log cabin structure at the Museum and it brings to life an era not currently represented at the Museum site. COVID-19 Vaccination ClinicsSeveral local organizations made very generous donations towards our local COVID-19 mass vaccination clinics. The contributions from Lambton Bases, Hydro One, Bluewater Power and Enbridge enabled Lambton County to make an incredible change in process by implementing the hockey hub vaccination clinic model, and increase our capacity for immunizations drastically. Lambton CirclesBoth the Seaway Kiwanis Club and Sarnia Community Foundation made generous donations to Lambton Circles® in 2021. The County sincerely appreciates the ongoing generosity from our caring community in support of Lambton Circles®. Lambton Heritage MuseumRon Van Horne donated several historic items to the Lambton Heritage Museum, including a mid-19th flat-to-wall cupboard from a Sarnia log cabin, two watercolour paintings, and an oil painting, each with original frames and glass. Mark Moran donated a collection of 68 original sketches by late local artist Barbara Perrin which were published by the Lambton County Historical Society in 1976 in the book Lambton County: A Collection of Ink Drawings by Barbara Perrin. The addition of these artefact donations to the Lambton Heritage Museum collection will help preserve the history of Lambton County for generations to come. Marshall Gowland ManorImperial Sarnia Site made a generous donation towards a trishaw bike and iPads for Marshall Gowland Manor, through the Manor Auxiliary. The iPads have helped the people living in the Home stay connected with family and friends during the pandemic, and the trishaw bike provides an additional activity to keep elders active and engaged. Ontario Student Nutrition Program - LambtonThis year, Noelle’s Gift made a generous donation of $79,000 to the Ontario Student Nutrition Program Lambton. This donation supports the cost of healthy food for students in Lambton County and helps relieve fundraising pressure on schools providing the program. The Lodge AuxiliaryThe Lodge Auxiliary is dedicated to supporting the people living at North Lambton Lodge. In 2021, the Lodge Auxiliary supported several special events and helped commemorate holidays and milestones with everyone living at the Lodge. The Manor AuxiliaryThe Manor Auxiliary is dedicated to supporting the people living at Marshall Gowland Manor. In 2021, the Manor Auxiliary helped commemorate the holidays by for all people living in the Home and arranged a fry truck day. The Manor Auxiliary also helped facilitate the purchase of a trishaw bike and iPads for the Home, as a result of a generous donation from Imperial Oil. The Villa AuxiliaryThe Villa Auxiliary is dedicated to supporting the people living at Lambton Meadowview Villa. In 2021, the Villa Auxiliary provided funds to help facilitate several special events, purchase two outdoor benches and flowers for the people living in the Home, and they helped commemorate holidays throughout the year. |

The Estate of Jean MumaIn September of 2020, a significant bequest of $34,989 was left to the Lambton Heritage Museum, from the estate of Jean Muma. The Museum is grateful to be able to play a role in honouring the legacy of Jean Muma and her passion for the work of the Museum and extends its thanks for this bequest. The donation will help enhance the programs and services the Museum offers to the community. Fairbanks Oil PropertiesIn 2019, Charles Fairbank and Pat McGee of Fairbank Oil Properties made a generous donation of $7,750 to the Museum. This donation supports an upcoming international conference on oil heritage in Lambton County, contributed to the Robert Cochrane Memorial Fund and covered the cost of the guided wagon rides through the surrounding historic oil fields. The County is extremely grateful for this generous donation, and appreciates the ongoing support from Fairbank Oil Properties. The Villa AuxiliaryThe Villa Auxiliary has funded several special events each and every year, provides a warm welcome to new residents, and helps to commemorate holidays and milestones with everyone living at the Villa. The County thanks the Villa Auxiliary for their generous donations and ongoing support to the people who live at the Villa. Linda SmithIn 2020, Linda Smith donated a trishaw bike to Lambton Meadowview Villa. The bike is already well-loved by all those who have used it. The County thanks Linda for her generous donation towards the continued care and support of the people who live at the Villa. The Manor AuxiliaryThe Manor Auxiliary worked incredibly hard to achieve charitable status over the past 12 months, and have finally been successful. The fundraising efforts of the Auxiliary have already enabled them to make a number of purchases for the Home. The Auxiliary was also instrumental in getting the new Tuck shop up and running this year. The County thanks the Manor Auxiliary for their generous donations and ongoing support of the people living at the Manor. The Lodge AuxiliaryThe Lodge Auxiliary is dedicated to supporting the people living at North Lambton Lodge and their families. The Auxiliary operates the tuck shop and provides a wonderful welcome to new residents. They also host many activities throughout the year for the people living at the Lodge. This year, the Auxiliary members purchased iPads and accessories for use by people living in the Home, helping them stay connected to family and friends during the pandemic. The County thanks Heather Gutteridge, Joan Rawlings, and the Lodge Auxiliary for their generous donations and ongoing support to the people who live at the Lodge. Rob BrooksIn late 2019, Rob Brooks donated an extensive collection of silent film era posters and memorabilia to the Lambton County Archives. The items feature Sarnia-born film actress Marie Prevost and tracer her 20 year career in the film industry. The County thanks Mr. Brooks for his generous donation, celebrating the legacy of a notable Lambton County resident. Ron Van Horne and Scott FergusonThe County thanks Ron Van Horne and Scott Ferguson for their continued support of the Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery. Ron and Scott's donation will help enhance the programs and services the Gallery offers to the community. Sarnia Community FoundationIn 2020, the Sarnia Community Foundation provided funding for iPads for Long-Term Care residents through the Emergency Community Support Fund. The tablets have enabled Long-Term Care residents to stay connected with family and friends during the COVID-19 pandemic. The County thanks Jane Anema, Executive Director of The Sarnia Community Foundation, and their donors, for their continued support. Seaway Kiwanis ClubLambton Circles® has greatly appreciated The Seaway Kiwanis Club support over the past 10 years with annual donations. Their donations have provided Circles families with necessities and supplies and has supported annual special events. This year, due to the pandemic and all in-person Circles events being cancelled, the Seaway Kiwanis Club gave an additional donation amount which allowed the Circles team to create and deliver summer family care packages to Circles families.
