Please note, the County capital grant program has been suspended for 2025. No new capital grant requests will be entertained in the 2025 Budget.
Under the Municipal Act, 2001, County Council has the authority and ability to make grants to community organizations as it so desires.
Eligibility
Lambton County Council has developed specific criteria that all grant applications must be compliant with to be considered at its annual Budget meeting. Organizations that wish to submit a grant request must follow the following five principles:
- Residence: Other than public sector organizations such as hospitals and colleges, the party requesting the grant resides and conducts business within the geographic boundaries of Lambton County.
- Geographic Benefit: The requested grant should be for an activity that benefits the majority of the regions of Lambton County.
- Core Services: The requested grant should be for activities consistent with, or ancillary to, the County's core services. For example, the County is not responsible for parks and recreation, so a request for such activity funding would be declined.
- Operational Sustainability: Groups applying for grants should be operationally sustainable. A grant should not be provided to agencies/groups to replace a shortfall in operational funding from another level of government.
- Capital Programming: With the expectation that agencies/groups are operationally sustainable, only grant requests for capital funding will be considered. Groups/agencies requesting capital funding should demonstrate that they have exhausted other sources of capital funding from groups such as the senior levels of government before requesting funding from the County.

Requests must be submitted no later than January 1 of the respective budget year under consideration.
