A Part II matter refers to municipal parking by-laws.
Part III: Commencement of Proceedings by Information
A Part III Summons refers to when a defendant has received a summons (a yellow piece of paper) with a court date on it. These are typically more serious offences such as driving with no insurance or driving while under suspension. It can also include certain by-laws that are of a more serious nature. A summons can be issued to the defendant either at home or on the road. This piece of paper tells the defendant that he/she has been ordered to be at court on the specific date and time outlined on their summons.
