The Additional Dwelling Unit Incentive program provides eligible homeowners with loan assistance of up to $25,000 or 75% of the total cost of the project, whichever is less, to create an additional dwelling unit at their home.

Who is eligible
Households who meet the eligibility criteria listed in the Additional Dwelling Unit Incentive Program information sheet (en français) are eligible to apply to the incentive program.
Key eligibility criteria includes, but is not limited to:
- Total household income and assets must comply with the income and asset criteria as listed in the Information Sheet.
- Own a home in Lambton County that is your sole and principal residence with a maximum market value of $527,000.
- All property taxes and mortgage payments must be up to date and insurance coverage must be in place for the full value of the home.
- Creating an additional dwelling unit on your existing property.

Eligible unit criteria
Eligible Additional Dwelling Units must be:
- Modest,
- Remain affordable at a rate of 80% of Annual Market Rents as determined by CMHC for a minimum of 15 years,
- Governed by the Residential Tenancies Act, and
- Occupied by a tenant with annual income below $99,000.
The homeowner will be responsible for income testing tenants and providing verification that tenant requirements have been met prior to occupancy.

Complete the application form (en français) and submit to the Housing Services Department by mail, fax (519-344-2062), or in-person at the Lambton Shared Services Centre.
